What these meta tags do

Search engines and social networks read a handful of tags from the head of your HTML to decide how a page appears when it is listed or shared. The standard SEO trio — the title element, the meta description and the canonical link — controls the Google result. The Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) drive the rich preview cards on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and Discord, and the Twitter/X card tags do the same on that platform. Filling one form here keeps all three in sync.

Escaping and where to paste

Every value you type is attribute-escaped: ampersands become &, quotes become " and angle brackets are encoded, so a title with an ampersand or a URL with query parameters produces valid markup that will not break the surrounding attribute. Copy the generated block and paste it inside the head of your page. For the image, use an absolute URL to a public file around 1200 by 630 pixels — the previews on the right approximate how Google and a social card will render your entries, but the platforms have the final say.

Frequently asked questions

What meta tags does this generate?

A standard SEO block (title, meta description and canonical link), the Open Graph tags used by Facebook, LinkedIn and messaging apps, and the Twitter/X card tags — all from a single form kept in sync.

Do I need to fill in every field?

No. Leave any field blank and its tags are simply left out of the output. The og:type defaults to website and the Twitter card to summary_large_image.

Are special characters handled safely?

Yes. Ampersands, quotes and angle brackets in your values are converted to HTML entities, so URLs with query parameters and titles with symbols produce valid markup that will not break the attribute around them.

What image should I use for og:image?

Use an absolute URL to a public image around 1200 by 630 pixels for large cards. The preview approximates the result, but each platform decides the final crop and caching.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The tags are assembled entirely in your browser from what you type — nothing is sent to a server, and no page is fetched.
