Split PDF

🔒 Runs in your browser

Add a PDF file to get started.

🔒 Your file is never uploaded — the extracted PDF is built entirely in your browser.

Extract pages from a PDF, without an upload

Add a PDF by picking it or dragging it onto the drop zone, type the pages you want to keep — a spec such as 1-3, 5, 8-10 — and press Extract. The new document is assembled entirely on your device with the open-source pdf-lib library: contracts, invoices, scanned IDs or bank statements are never sent to a server, never stored, and never seen by anyone. When the download starts, the file has simply been written by your own browser.

How the page-range spec works

Separate individual pages and ranges with commas, and use a hyphen for an inclusive range: for example 2, 4, 7-9 keeps pages 2, 4, 7, 8 and 9. Pages come out in the order you write them, so 5, 1-3 puts page 5 first — a handy way to reorder while you split. Repeated pages are removed automatically, and the tool checks every number against the document length, so a range that runs past the last page or goes backwards is flagged before you extract.

What is preserved, and what is not

Each selected page is copied in full, so its text, fonts and images come across intact. Interactive extras — bookmarks, some form fields and cross-document links — can be simplified during the copy, which is normal for a client-side split and keeps the output lean. A PDF that is encrypted or corrupt cannot be read in the browser; when that happens the tool tells you rather than producing a silently broken result.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and the selected pages are extracted entirely in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library — your document never leaves your device, and nothing is stored or seen by anyone.

How do I choose which pages to keep?

Type a range spec such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Use hyphens for inclusive ranges and commas to separate them. Pages appear in the new PDF in the order you list them, and duplicates are removed automatically.

Can I reorder pages while splitting?

Yes. Because pages come out in the order you write them, a spec like 5, 1-3 puts page 5 first, then pages 1 to 3 — so you can reorder as you extract.

What if my PDF is password-protected or damaged?

Encrypted or corrupt files cannot be read, so the tool stops and tells you instead of producing a broken result. Remove the protection or repair the file, then try again.
