Text Splitter & Joiner
🔒 Runs in your browser
How it works
Paste any text, then pick how to break it apart. Delimiter splits on a literal
character or string — comma, tab, semicolon, space, or anything you type (use \t,
\n or \r if you need a tab, newline or carriage return you can't type
directly into the field). Fixed length chops the text every N characters —
handy for slicing serial numbers, hex dumps or fixed-width records. Regular
expression splits on any pattern match, consuming the matched text as the separator.
Every result can be rendered as one piece per line, or as a single line with the pieces joined by a column separator (tab by default) — useful when you want to paste straight into a spreadsheet. Turn on Trim to strip leading/trailing whitespace from each piece, and Drop empty pieces to remove blanks left behind by consecutive delimiters.
Switch to Join to run the tool in reverse: paste one item per line and choose a separator (comma, semicolon, tab, or a custom string) to collapse them back into a single line — turning a comma-separated list into lines, or lines back into a list, in one click. Everything happens locally in your browser; nothing you paste is uploaded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
What separators can I use to split text?
A single character or string such as a comma, tab, semicolon or space (including a custom one you type), a fixed number of characters per piece, or a regular expression pattern. Type \t, \n or \r for characters you cannot type directly.
How do I reverse a split and turn a list back into one line?
Switch to Join mode, paste one item per line, and pick a separator such as a comma or tab. The tool collapses the lines back into a single line, undoing a delimiter split.
Does this tool upload my text anywhere?
No. Splitting and joining both run locally in your browser using plain JavaScript; nothing you paste is sent to a server.
